Contagem Towers (Liga Ouro) signed 28-year-old 206cm center Gabriel Mendes. He played during the summer at Vitoria in the Liga Ouro. In 12 games he recently played, he averaged 11.6ppg, 10.6rpg, 1.3apg, and 1.3bpg. Liga Ouro will be a better match for him, and he can expect more playing time.
He is a very experienced player. Mendes has played also in Argentina (Quimsa, Independiente and Quimsa), Chile (CD Liceo Pablo Neruda), Uruguay (Universitario and Allavena), Venezuela (Broncos), Brazil (Palmeiras, Ginastico, Paschoalotto/Bauru, Sao Caetano and Osasco) and Ecuador (Spartans).
Among many awards, his team made it to the Uruguay LSB Semifinals in 2023. He was also voted to Latinbasket.com All-Uruguay LSB Center of the Year in 2023.
