Brunao Cardoso claims Brazilian NBB weekly honour

Brunao Cardoso (197-F-2002) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for BRB/Brasilia and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 3.
The 23-year old forward had a double-double of 26 points and 10 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Rio Claro (#17, 0-2) with 52-point margin 109-57. Brasilia is placed at 4th position in Brazilian NBB. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Brasilia won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Cardoso had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Brasilia's top player in his first season with the team. Cardoso has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (5th best: 9.5rpg) and averages solid 2.0bpg and 69.2% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Decensae White (198-G-1988) of Botafogo Rio de Janeiro. White impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 30 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Botafogo lost that game 72-85 to UniFacisa (2-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. White is a newcomer at Botafogo and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. San Francisco State University alumni White played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

The third best performed player last round was American Melvin Johnson (193-G-1993) of UniFacisa Paraiba (#7). Johnson scored 26 points. He was a key player of UNIFACISA, leading his team to a 85-72 easy win against Botafogo (#14, 1-2). UniFacisa needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 2 victories and 1 lost game. Johnson has a great season in Brazil. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.0ppg (6th best).
