Douglas Silva claims Brazilian NBB weekly honour

Douglas Silva (202-SF-1998) put on an amazing game in the last round for Coop/Sao Jose Basketball and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 12.
The 27-year old had the game-high 18 points adding nine rebounds and four assists for Sao Jose in his team's victory, helping them to beat Pato (#19, 2-10) 86-71. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Sao Jose maintains the 9th position in Brazilian NBB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Sao Jose will need more victories to improve their 6-4 record. Silva has many years of experience at Sao Jose, through which he has constantly improved. Douglas Silva averages this season 13.6ppg and 7.1rpg.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young center Andrezao Barbosa de Abreu (213-C-2002) of Zopone/ Gali/ Unimed/Bauru Basket. Barbosa de Abreu impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Paschoalotto/Bauru lost that game 88-94 to the higher-ranked Minas (#2, 10-2). Bauru managed to keep the same 11th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-7 record. Barbosa de Abreu is a newcomer at Bauru and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American David Sloan (183-PG-1999) of Esporte Clube Pinheiros Sao Paolo (#6). Sloan scored 24 points and passed 9 assists. He was a key player of Pinheiros, leading his team to a 102-89 easy win against the lower-ranked Cruzeiro (#16, 3-9). Pinheiros is closer and closer to top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 8-2 record is not that bad... Sloan has a great season in Brazil. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 5.9apg (4th best).

8. Alex Garcia (191-G-1980) of Bauru - 23 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists
9. Vitor Silva (188-G-2004) of Paulistano - 15 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists
10. Ralfi Ansaloni (209-C-1987) of Cruzeiro - 13 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists
