Brazilian NBB round 17 best performance: Nate Barnes (by Hoops Agents)

American Point guard Nate Barnes (181-PG-1990) put on an amazing game in the last round for Luvix/Uniao Corinthians, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 35-year old player was the main contributor (31 points, three rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Vasco (#20, 2-14) 85-78. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Thanks to this victory U.Corinthians moved-up to the 12th position in Brazilian NBB. U.Corinthians is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 7-8 record. In the team's last game Barnes had a remarkable 71.4% from 2-point range and got seven three-pointers out of 9 attempts. He turned to be U.Corinthians' top player in his first season with the team. Nate Barnes averages this season 12.6ppg.

The second best player in last round's games was young Anderson Rodrigues (207-PF-1997) of Coop/Sao Jose Basketball. Rodrigues had a very good evening with a double-double of 18 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Sao Jose lost that game 61-74 to the lower-ranked Caxias do Sul (#13, 7-8). Despite lost game Sao Jose moved up to 7th position in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 10-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. Rodrigues is a newcomer at Sao Jose, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was international forward Tulio Da Silva (203-F-1996) of Cruzeiro Esporte Clube Basquete (#16). Da Silva showcased his all-around game by recording 19 points, 11 rebounds (!!!) and 5 assists in the last round. He was a key player of Cruzeiro, leading his team to a 89-65 easy win against the lower-ranked Botafogo (#19, 3-14). Cruzeiro can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 4-11 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. The season just started for Da Silva as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
