Georginho de Paula claims Brazilian NBB weekly honour

International Point guard Georginho de Paula (197-PG-1996) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Sesi/Franca Sao Paulo and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 27.
The 29-year old playmaker had a double-double of 31 points and 11 rebounds, while his team was edged out by U.Corinthians (#12, 11-10) 98-95. Vivo/Franca maintains the 2nd position in Brazilian NBB. They are still close to the very top. But there are still few teams in the league, which Sesi/Franca can lose the games to. Now they are 18-4 and hopefully next round will be better. In the team's last game de Paula had a remarkable 72.7% from 2-point range. It's his second year at Vivo/Franca and it's hard to imagine this team without him. de Paula has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in rebounds (2nd best: 8.6rpg) and averages solid 63.6% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American Jeremy Hollowell (203-SF-1994, agency: BIG) of Luvix/Uniao Corinthians. Hollowell impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 10 assists. It was enough for U.Corinthians to edge the higher-ranked Sesi/Franca (#2, 18-4) by 3 points 98-95. U.Corinthians' 12th position in the standings has not changed. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 11-10 record is not bad and everything may still change. Hollowell is a newcomer at U.Corinthians and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.2ppg (#6). His other stats are also decent: 7.6rpg and 3.7apg.

The third best performed player last round was another U.Corinthians' star - Colombian Juan Cardenas (201-PG-1997). Cardenas scored 20 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. He was another key player of Luvix/Uniao Corinthians, helping his team with a 98-95 win against the higher-ranked Sesi/Franca (#2, 18-4). U.Corinthians needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 11 victories and 10 lost games. Cardenas has a very solid season. In 2 games in Brazil he scored 15.0ppg.
