Whenever someone makes the GOAT of basketball list, it’s inevitably subjective, and not everyone will agree with it. Truth is, each fan has their own opinion and reasons why their picks contradict the data, or why relying on data alone is not an accurate representation. Those are all valid points; however, you still need statistics to effectively argue your position, and it’s way better to add more relevant data sets to your evaluation than to simply ignore them.

To that end, we will focus on who is the goat of basketball of all time in Latin America, by examining some of the top players in this category. And, we’ll take into account the number of championships won, their individual stats, international impact, and the longevity of their career.

Casino Partnerships in Latin American Basketball

We feel that the number of championship titles shows how good someone is as a team player, while individual excellence is a testament to how much that player contributes to the team’s performance. Career longevity indicates how effectively someone can manage the downsides of aging, while their fame tells us if they are a good role model.

Many businesses, including casinos, also look for these qualities when picking athlete brand ambassadors. They want someone who is both talented and adored by the audience. Many EU gambling companies are actively supporting sports championships across the globe, and online magyar casino operators are also looking for new ways to attract fresh players. On top of bonuses and other incentives, getting endorsement from a basketball goat who loves casino games would definitely put them on the map.

2 Real Latin America GOATS of Basketball

There are lots of discussions pertaining to who's the goat of basketball from this region, but 2 names will frequently pop up: Manu Ginobili and Oscar Schmidt (due to incredible PPG).

Manu Ginobili - The Revolutionary Winner

Ginobili is an Argentinian basketball legend whose professional career spanned 23 years. He joined the Spurs as a backup player for Steve Smith, and it took a whole year for him to adjust to the new league. During the 2003/04 season, he became more active, and that’s when his career really took off.

When he renewed the contract with the Spurs for another 6 years, his presence became more dominant. In fact, during the 2004/05 season, he was active in every match. He won 4 NBA championships in total with this team, and he even won a gold Olympic medal with Argentina. Many regard him as a player who brought Eurostep into the NBA, an effective offense technique that modern NBA stars are refining to this day.

Oscar Schmidt - The Scoring Legend

Oscar is often regarded as basketball GOAT as he is the all-time leading scorer in FIBA history. He scored 49,737 points in total across all competitions, and he was actually playing for 29 years. While he was never a part of the NBA, he still became a global legend, won 3 South American Championships, and entered the Hall of Fame.

Era-Adjusted Performance Table

There’s not much point in discussing GOATs of basketball without relevant context. So here’s a table that compares the game throughout different eras of the NBA and FIBA. Now, even today, Latin player representation in the NBA is low (aprox 2.2%), but take into consideration that people from all over the world are now competing here.

Who Is the Goat in Basketball - Final Verdict

Each of the listed candidates has some valid claims to the GOAT title. Ginobili's massive success cannot be overlooked, but he appeared at the time when acceptance in the NBA was higher. Oscar Schmidt will forever be a legend because of his scoring performance, but always remember that, at that time average scoring was higher compared to other eras. Gasol is an excellent player who has seen commendable championship success, while Scola needs to be praised for his consistency in international competitions. However, many would unanimously agree that Ginobili should be crowned the goat of basketball in Latin America.
