Thomas' 21 points and 7 rebounds give him Player of the Week award

30-year old American guard Davaunta Thomas (196-G-1995) put on an amazing game in the last round for Sport Club Corinthians Paulista and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 37.
He had the game-high 21 points adding seven rebounds and six assists for Corinthians in his team's victory, helping them to beat Pato (#16, 7-22) 89-79. Corinthians maintains the 6th position in Brazilian league. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Corinthians will need more victories to improve their 21-8 record. Thomas turned to be Corinthians' top player in his first season with the team. The University of Arkansas Fort Smith graduate has very impressive stats this year. Thomas is in league's top in points (9th best: 16.1ppg) and averages solid 58.4% FGP. Worth to mention Thomas played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

Second best performed player last round was Matheus Bonfim (206-F/C-1999) of Rio Claro Basquete. He is a forward in his first season at Rio Claro. In the last game Bonfim recorded an impressive double-double of 19 points and 11 rebounds. Bad luck as Rio Claro lost that game 77-82 to the higher-ranked UniFacisa (#12, 15-14). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Rio Claro keeps 15th position. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 9-21 record. Bonfim is a newcomer at Rio Claro and quickly became one of team's most reliable players.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Guilherme Abreu (200-PF-1999) of Paulistano/Corpore Sao Paolo (#8). Abreu scored 22 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Despite Abreu's great performance the Paulistano lost 88-89 to the lower-ranked Cruzeiro (#14, 11-19). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Paulistano needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 18 victories and 12 lost games. Abreu has a great season in Brazil. After 29 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.7rpg (6th best).
