The Regular Season in NBB is slowly approaching the end. But there may be still some important changes in the final standings in the last 7 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.
The most exciting game of round 42 in the NBB took place in Brasilia. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Flamengo (25-7) to fifth ranked Brasilia (25-9) 89-87 on Wednesday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Flamengo. Brasilia shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international guard Daniel Von Haydin (195-1999) who scored 32 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Argentinian-Italian point guard Facundo Corvalan (190-1998) chipped in 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian point guard Franco Baralle (182-1999) who recorded 21 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. Flamengo's coach Sergio Hernandez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Brasilia have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Flamengo at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. Brasilia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Flamengo will play on the road against U.Corinthians in Santa Cruz do Sul and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Sao Paulo. Third ranked Vivo/Franca (26-6) saved a 3-point victory on the road edging 6th ranked Corinthians (22-10) 96-93 on Tuesday evening. It was a good game for the former international point guard Georginho de Paula (197-1996) who led his team to a victory with 31 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Lucas Dias contributed with 22 points and 9 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) for the winners. American guard Elyjah Clark (191-1998, college: MSSU) replied with 28 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for Corinthians. Vivo/Franca have a solid four-game winning streak. Sesi/Franca moved-up to second place. Corinthians at the other side keeps the sixth position with ten games lost. Sesi/Franca will play against Sao Jose (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Corinthians will have a break next round.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sao Paulo. First ranked Pinheiros faced 4th ranked Minas. Host Pinheiros (28-6) defeated guests from Belo Horizonte (24-8) 91-85. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Minas. Felipe Borges scored 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists to lead the charge for the winners. The best for the losing side was Jordan Williams with 24 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pinheiros maintains first position with 28-6 record. Loser Minas dropped to the fifth place with eight games lost. Pinheiros will meet at home UniFacisa (#12) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Minas will play against Cruzeiro (#14) and hope to secure a win.
Rest of the games of round 42 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Paulistano was defeated by Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro 84-79. Rio Claro was beaten by Sao Jose at home 76-82. Mogi lost to Brasilia on the opponent's court 69-72. U.Corinthians unfortunately lost to Botafogo in a home game 71-78. Pato was rolled over Bauru on the road 70-94.
