Bernardo Da Silva claims Brazilian NBB weekly honour

Bernardo Da Silva (206-F-2000) had a very impressive game in the last round for Fortaleza B.C. Cearense and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 45.
The 25-year old forward had the game-high 20 points adding nine rebounds and seven assists for Cearense in his team's victory, helping them to edge out U.Corinthians (#12, 18-17) 94-93. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Fortaleza maintains the 18th position in Brazilian NBB. The season is in a full swing, so it's only a dream for the team to make it into top half of the standings. For contrary they may face relegation if the situation turns from bad to worse. Cearense have already lost 29 games and recorded just seven victories. In the team's last game Da Silva had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be Fortaleza's top player in his first season with the team. University of Hawaii graduate has very impressive stats this year. Da Silva is in league's top in points (6th best: 14.1ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 6.4rpg) and averages solid 54.9% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American power forward Devon Scott (205-F/C-1994) of Luvix/Uniao Corinthians. Scott impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as U.Corinthians was edged by the lower-ranked Cearense (#18, 7-29) 94-93. The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. U.Corinthians dropped in the standings to 12th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 18-17 record is not bad and everything may still change. Scott is a newcomer at U.Corinthians and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was Matheus Eugeniusz (193-G-2000) of Zopone/ Gali/ Unimed/Bauru Basket (#8). Eugeniusz showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in the last round. Despite Eugeniusz's great performance the Paschoalotto/Bauru lost 87-91 to the higher-ranked Sesi/Franca (#1, 29-6). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Bauru needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 21 victories and 15 lost games. Eugeniusz has a very solid season. In 36 games in Brazil he scored 9.5ppg. He also has 3.3apg and a FGP of 59.1%.
