Power forward Augusto Alcassa (211-F/C-2000) had a very impressive game in the last round for Fluminense FC Rio de Janeiro, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (12 points, nine rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Contagem (#6, 1-9) 81-77. Fluminense maintains the 3rd position in Brazilian Liga Ouro. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Fluminense will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. Alcassa just recently signed at Fluminense, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Augusto Alcassa has solid league stats. He leads league in rebounds with 10.7rpg. Alcassa is in league's top in assists (9th best: 3.1apg) and averages impressive 1.2bpg and 50.6% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Felipe Da Cruz (211-C-2000) of Contagem Towers. Da Cruz had a very good evening with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Contagem was edged by the higher-ranked Fluminense (#3, 7-3) 81-77. Contagem are still at the very bottom. 9 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Contagem managed to get this year. Da Cruz is one of the most experienced players at Contagem and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

Third on the list of top players last round was forward Jose Carlos (200-PF-1997) of Joacaba Basquete (#4). Carlos scored 10 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). Despite Carlos' great performance the Joacaba lost 68-76 to #2 ranked Brusque. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Joacaba needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 6 victories and 4 lost games. Carlos has a great season in Brazil. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 14.6ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 9.9rpg (2nd best).
