Samuel Santos claims Brazilian Liga Ouro weekly honour

Samuel Santos (187-SG-1999) had an amazing evening in the last round for league's second-best Brusque Basquete/ADB and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 6.
The 26-year old shooting guard had the game-high 26 points adding five rebounds for Brusque in his team's victory, helping them to beat Fluminense (7-3) 87-79. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Brusque maintains the 2nd position in Brazilian Liga Ouro. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Brusque will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. In the team's last game Santos had a remarkable six three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He has many years of experience at Brusque, through which he has constantly improved. Santos has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in points (2nd best: 18.4ppg), assists (8th best: 3.2apg) and averages solid 2.2spg and 51.1% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young power forward Augusto Alcassa (211-F/C-2000) of Fluminense FC Rio de Janeiro. Alcassa impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Fluminense lost that game 86-99 to slightly lower-ranked Joacaba (#4, 6-4). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the title. Fluminense still maintains its place in the top 3 of the standings, even despite this loss. His team's 7-3 record is not bad at all. Alcassa is one of the most experienced players at Fluminense and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was another Fluminense's star - Lucas Campos (190-PG-1997). Campos showcased his all-around game by recording 21 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists in the last round. Despite Campos' great performance the Fluminense FC Rio de Janeiro lost 79-87 to #2 ranked Brusque. But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Fluminense needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 7 victories and 3 lost games. Campos has a great season in Brazil. After 10 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.6ppg (best scorer) and assists with 4.4apg (3rd best).
