Joacaba forced 25 Vila Velha turnovers. Guard Thaylor Fagundes (190-2006) stepped up and scored 23 points and 4 assists for the winners and power forward Diego Silva (207-1990) chipped in 11 points and 4 assists. At the losing side power forward Enrico De Paula (205-2005) responded with 16 points and 7 rebounds and American guard Jaheim Lewis (193-2003, college: NJCU) scored 18 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Forward Guilherme Pedra (198-2001, college: Carroll, MT) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four Fluminense players scored in double figures. Guard Rodrigo Scherrer (188-2004) answered with 17 points and 4 steals and forward Bruno Ribeiro (199-2005) added 16 points in the effort for Contagem. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.
