Vernizz's double-double lands him Player of the Week award

Alexsander Vernizz

25-year old point guard Alexsander Vernizz (184-PG-2000) had a great game in the last round for R10 Score Vasco da Gama Rio de Janeiro and receives a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 49.
He got a double-double of 40 points and 12 assists, while his team crushed Botafogo (#16, 10-28) with 18-point margin 104-86. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on top of the standings. Vasco maintains the 20th position in Brazilian league. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked at the very bottom. They already lost 32 games and recorded just six victories. In the team's last game Vernizz had a remarkable 76.9% from 2-point range and got five three-pointers out of 10 attempts. He has many years of experience at Vasco, through which he has constantly improved. Vernizz has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in assists (9th best: 5.3apg).

Second best performed player last round was Daniel Von Haydin (195-G-1999) of BRB/Brasilia. He is international guard in his second season at Brasilia. In the last game Von Haydin recorded an impressive double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds. Of course he led Brasilia to another comfortable win outscoring the lower-ranked Bauru (#10, 21-17) 94-65. This victory allowed Brasilia to move up to 4th position in the standings. His team's 28-10 record is not bad at all. Von Haydin is well-known at Brasilia and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders.

Third place about best performers goes to forward Tulio Da Silva (203-F-1996) of Cruzeiro Esporte Clube Basquete (#14). Da Silva scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Cruzeiro, leading his team to a 86-77 win against the lower-ranked Cearense (#17, 7-31). The chances of Cruzeiro not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 25 games, recording just thirteen victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Da Silva could try to bring Cruzeiro's a little bit higher in the standings. Da Silva has individually a great season in Brazil. After 20 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 17.2ppg (4th best) and rebounds with 8.4rpg (3rd best).
