Joacaba outrebounded Vila Velha 45-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for power forward Diego Silva (207-1990) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Luan Rodrigues (192-2002) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Four Joacaba players scored in double figures. Joacaba's coach Athos Calderaro felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American guard Jaheim Lewis (193-2003, college: NJCU) answered with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Enrico De Paula (205-2005) added 11 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Vila Velha.
