Tatui erase 13-point hole on the road to clinch Liga Ouro title and chase NBB promotion- May 28, 2026Grupo BT/Clube de Campo de Tatui completed a historic season on Wednesday, rallying from a 13-point first-quarter deficit to beat Brusque Basquete 81-76 in Game 4 of the Liga Ouro finals at Arena Brusque, closing out the best-of-five series 3-1 and securing the right to pursue a spot in the NBB CAIXA 2026/27.
The Sao Paulo side built on the best defense in the competition turned the league's most productive offense against itself once the early storm passed. The triumph caps a remarkable rise for a club that found competitiveness, collective identity, and national relevance in a short space of time. Dida Pereira (202-C/F-1992, college: Sequoias CC) was the standout with 23 points on a scorching 10-of-12 from two-point range and six rebounds for a game-high 26 efficiency. Robson Junior (178-PG-2000) added 17 points (6-of-10 from two), five assists, and three rebounds, while Alef Pereira (185-G-1995) came off the bench for a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds. Guizao chipped in six points off the bench after his 16-point, 15-rebound heroics in Game 3. Brusque came out firing, dominating the first quarter behind Finao's 11 points in the paint to build a 13-point lead at 29-16. But Tatui's defensive response in the second period changed everything an 11-2 burst sparked the comeback, and coach Daniel Leque's side held Brusque to just 10 second-quarter points to close within 39-35 at the break. A third-quarter exchange ended level at 57-57 before Tatui's Robson Junior-Dida duo took control in the fourth, building an eight-point cushion with three minutes left that Brusque could not overcome. For Brusque, Samuel Santos (187-SG-1999) flirted with a triple-double 23 points, 11 rebounds, and six assists while Wilson Carneiro (175-PG-1994) added 20 points (11-of-13 FT) and Finao posted 14 points and 13 rebounds. But the Santa Catarina side shot a disastrous 7 percent from three (2-of-30) across the game, a number that doomed their title hopes. To confirm NBB promotion, Tatui must now meet a series of financial, structural, and administrative criteria set by the Liga Nacional de Basquete the access to the elite extends beyond the court. |
