GEORGETOWN, Guyana - As the [British] Virgin Islands U16 Girls made their debut at the regional tournament, on Tuesday July 12, 2016, no one could have imagined them giving Guyana a real whopping at the Caribbean Basketball Confederation (CBC) Championships.
Making amends for their male counterparts disappointing performance at the championships, the British Virgin Islands girls whipped host country Guyana 54-18 to get their campaign to the best possible start on the opening day at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown.

Guyana simply could not get a bucket in the first half, hitting none of their shots in the first quarter while only scoring five points in the entire first half as the BVI went into the half with a 25-5 lead.

The hosts poor shooting continued as the squad threw up 56 attempts, connecting on only 12.5% from the field with zero shots falling from beyond the arc after attempting seven from three-point land.

Shauliqua Fahie was the hot hand for the BVI, dropping 24 points while collecting a monster 21 rebounds.

Guyana's best scorer was Jada Mohan, who recorded 11 points on 4-29 shooting from the field.
