Bayside Blazers Jr & Sr demolish opponents in weekend STS League games - Sep 12, 2018

DUFF'S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI -'Bayside Blazers' on Friday, September 7, 2018, demolished 'Young Empire' 132-49, when action continued in the Honourable Julian Fraser Save the Seed (STS) Basketball National League 2018 at Duff's Bottom. 'Bayside Blazers' was led in their charge by Tavon Phillips, who scored 34 points while grabbing 15 rebounds, with four steals and four assists, for another impressive night's run. Heshon Charles scored 14 for his team's trying effort.

Beat Down

None of the other players scored more than 10 points in the beat-down.

The Basketball action at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff's Bottom 'Momentum' being destroyed by Warrias 68-55; Ryan Alfred (185-G-95) leading the way with 24 points and five rebounds.

Kitwana Ryhmer's 20 rebounds with 12 points and six blocks, were not enough however, to overcome 'Warrias.'

The 'Warrias' needed a win having lost their previous game to DA3RD by one point, 79-78.

Saturday September 8, 2018

Action the following day-Saturday, September 8, 2018-saw games kicking off in the junior division with 'Young Starz' easily overcoming 'East Cavaliers' 33-24.

Greshon Bowens and Kimoy Layne managed to muster six points each for 'East Cavaliers' but were outmatched by their opponents 'Young Starz' who was led on the scoreboard by Elroy Bollers with 13 points and five rebounds.

Teammate Raheem Hodge also chipped in nine with three rebounds and a steal, for a convincing victory.

Action also resumed in the senior division, this time with 'Momentum' regaining ground in the STS tourney by trouncing 'We dem boys' just barely, 72-69.

Eighteen points each by Requan Fahie and Mackebo Fahie, along with 17 from Hakeem Penn, proved to be too little too late.

Failed Effort

Radley Stevens led the way for 'Momentum' in what proved to be a team effort, scoring 17 points and Jovaughn Cameron (185-G-80, college: Grand View), netting 14 with eight rebounds.

Requan Fahie had also grabbed an impressive 19 rebounds for 'We Dem Boys' in the failed effort.

Game #2 in the Senior Division that evening, would see 'Knights' going down 85-80 to Pure Playaz.

Pure Playaz' Ray Victor (183-G-88, college: Warner), netted 19, leading the scoreboard for his side.

He also grabbed 11 rebounds with eight assists and two steals to seal the victory.

The Knights' loss came despite a virtual one man show in Nicols Charles who lead the game's scoring with 29 points with six coming from the three point line.

Eleven would be the next highest contribution to come from a single player, Jamal K. Serrant and Dudley Richardson.

The duo would also grab a combined 24 rebounds.

Junior Division Mauling

Junior Division action continued in the Hon Julian Fraser STS League on Sunday, September 9, 2018, when the Junior 'Bayside Blazers' executing a text book victory over 'East Cavaliers,' in another crushing defeat over the weekend for that team.

That game ended 46-19.

That game also proved to be a team effort with no player reaching in the double figures. There were no three pointers for the game while Jiliani S. Leonard, in addition to leading his team's roster with eight points, dominated the backboard grabbing eight rebounds.

The senior 'Bayside Blazers' would later go on to demolish Da3RD by 49 points.

That game ended 109-60.

Phillips led the way again for the Bayside Blazers scoring 30 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.

Da3RD's lead top individual score would come by way of Vincent Wattley with 15.

The final game of the evening saw Knights barely beating 'Splash Brothers' 74-66.
