The team in a show of support for survivors and its fight, has worn 'pink socks' in ongoing games currently been played in Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League.

President of the BVI Cancer Society Ms Gloria A. Fahie has since commended the team saying 'kudos to the Bayside Blazers for helping to bring breast cancer awareness to the community.'

The long time President of the society-a survivor herself-noted that 'early detection saves lives.'

The team posed for a photo on Friday night, October 5, 2018, with Ms Fahie before taking on team Momentum in the second round playoffs

Manager of the Bayside Blazers, Mr Julian Willock, in an invited comment said, 'our team is more than just bouncing a ball, we try and bring light to other issues while keeping the focus on the game of basketball and playing to win.'

Mr Willock said he was proud of the players and coaches for getting involved by wearing the pink socks, 'as cancer continues to rob us of our family and friends.'

He said this is something 'we will do each year' and thanked many in corporate community and individuals who continue to make contributions to the team, hence promoting the sport of basketball.

Asked if he thinks his team will be the 2018 Champions in the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed League, he said, 'it's too early to start measuring for gold rings we will get out there, play hard, play smart and put the work in to win.'

The Bayside Blazers was founded in 2014 and has a team for regional competitions and a different team for local basketball tournaments.
