With the win, SCF qualifies for the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA)/National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 tournament in Ocala, Florida. In their final home and regular season game, the Northeastern Plainsmen (13-17) routed Lamar JV, 90-66. Relando Rodgers (206-C) led five sophomores playing in their last game in the Bank of Colorado Event Center, who wanted to go out with a bang. Rogers finished with eight points and eight rebounds.
The beginning of the game was back and forth in scoring for both teams. Lamar scored on back door layups and drew Northeastern into fouls. The Plainsmen adjusted and went on a run to go up 34-22. The Lopes slowed Northeastern for a few possessions and gained a few points back before the Plainsmen took over on scoring again. At halftime, Northeastern led 50-36.
The second half was pure domination by the Plainsmen with everyone getting in on the action. For every basket that Lamar scored, Northeastern made two. Everyone on the team recorded a stat in the playbook and helped the Plainsmen soar. Northeastern will head into postseason play looking to punch their ticket to Hutch.
