CAC Games, Day Two: Puerto Rico - U.S. Virgins Islands 82-55
Another great performance for Puerto Rico at CAC Games. After 118-24 victory against Saint Vincent in Day One, Puerto Rico blasted ISV 82-55 for 2-0 record in Group A. On the other side, ISV dropped to second place in this pool with 1-1. Sandra Garcia (189-F-90) top-scored for the winners with 16 points. Pamela Rosado (161-G-86) had one point less than her, while Michelle Pacheco (175-G/F-88) added 14 points and 6 assists. Jazmine Sepulveda (177-G-85, agency: Merit Sports, college: S.Florida) helped the hosts with double-double of 12 points and 10 boards. In the loosing squad, Yanique Javois (176-G-85, college: Saint Louis) shined with 20 points. Natalie Day (183-G/F-90) had 16 pts and 8 boards.
Puerto Rico opened the game in style making 24-9 lead in the first ten minutes. They continued in the same rhythm after that, so after twenty minutes of play the home side was huge 52-28 up. The game winner was already known and second half was just the formality. Third quarter ended with 12-12 tie, while Puerto Rico smashed ISV in the last one with 14-2. At the end totally deserved 82-55 for PUR, who once again proved they will be the main contender for the CAC title.
On Tuesday, Puerto Rico will meet Trinidad and Tobago. ISV will take on Saint Vincent.

CAC Games, Day Two: Guatemala - Mexico 65-85
Mexico shined in their first appearances in Mayaguez. They outgunned Guatemala for 1-0 record in Group B, which also includes Jamaica and Dominican Republic. Guatemala dropped to 0-2 as they faced with defeat in Day One as well. Brisa Silva (168-G-84, college: Oklahoma St.) exploded in this victory. She spent 35 minutes on the court and drained 31 points. Silva had 5 triples in this game. Alexis Castro (184-G/F-86, agency: 22ft, college: Vermont) followed her with 12 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists, while Monica Garcia (172-G-86) added 11 points. Alma Lopez (165-G-86) replied with 21 points in defeat. Cynthia Rivera (177-F-82) and Maria Fleischmann (181-F/C-77) scored 12 points each.
Mexico took control on its rival from the beginning. Brisa Silva and her teammates grabbed 16-26 lead in Q1 and for rest of the first half jumped to plus 20. They slowed down after that and never had troubles to keep the safe distance. Third quarter ended 24-24 and the last one 13-13 for the final score of 65-85.
On Tuesday, Mexico will meet Dominican Republic on Tuesday. Guatemala will have a day-off.

CAC Games, Day Two: Dominican Republic - Jamaica 72-62
Dominican Republic had a reason for joy in their first appearance in Mayaguez. They grabbed 72-62 win against Jamaica for 1-0 in Group B. At the same time, it was the second game for Jamaica at this event and they slipped to 1-1. Carmen Guzman (175-G-85, agency: Merit Sports, college: UAB) was unstoppable in offense. She played almost the entire match netting 29 points. Sugeiry Monsac (186-F/C-81) secured a nice help for Dominican Republic with 14 points and 7 boards, while Charlenny Frias (177-G-84) added 10 points and 5 rebs. In defeat, Simone Edwards (194-C-73, college: Iowa) shined with 19 points and 15 rebs. Vanessa Gidden (193-C/F-85, college: Hofstra) is another player with double-double in defeat (19 pts, 10 rebs), while Nicole Louden (172-G-83, college: Auburn) contributed with 17 points and 8 assists.
Dominican Republic better from the beginning. They had Carmen Guzman on fire which paced er team to 21-15 lead in Q1. They were good in the next ten minutes as well, taking 37-28 at the half time. Jamaica slightly improved after the breather (17-18), but they needed a way more. Jamaica limited Dominican Republic 7 points in the last period, but on the other side they scoredjust 12 and faced with 72-62 defeat.
On Tuesday, Dominican Republic will play against Mexico. Jamaica has a day-off.
