Dominican Republic post second consecutive win in El Salvador

Dominican Republic posted second consecutive win in El Salvador in Central American and Caribbean Games 2023. They overcame United States Virgin Islands 94-86 in overtime to take 2-0 record in Group A. Both teams exchanged the similar 20-19 runs in the first half for a 39-39 at the halftime. Dominican Republic won the fourth stanza 24-18 to send the teams to overtime at 78-78. In extra time, Dominican Republic needed a 16-8 run to seal the win. Yohanna Morton (172-G-1987, college: RMU) and Esmery Martinez (188-F) stepped up with 19 points each in a win. Imani Tate (175-G/F-1995, college: Albany) replied with 22 points in the losing effort.
