US Virgin Islands win Semifinal thriller against Puerto Rico

US Virgin Islands have won Semifinal thriller against Puerto Rico 61-60 to face Dominican Republic in the Final of the Final of the Central American and Caribbean Games 2023. Puerto Rico opened the game with a 19-12 run, however could not keep the advantage. United States Virgin Islands replied with a narrow 14-13 run in the second quarter and then posted a 21-12 surge in the third period. Puerto Rico tried hard to recover with a 16-14 run in the last stanza, but fell short at the end.
Natalie Day (182-G/F-1990, college: Portland) top-scored for the winners with 17 points, whilst Imani Tate (175-G/F-1995, college: Albany) and J-Naya Ephraim (175-G-2000) had 15 each. Jacqueline Benitez (178-G-1997, college: JMU) replied with 22 points in the losing effort.
