In the men's league, there are 14 teams in total, including five from Division 1 and nine from Division 2. They have combined into one league to play each other once to make an extremely lengthy regular season. At the end of the regular series, the top four teams in Division 2 will separate from the top four Division 1 sides and play against each other in their respective zones. Ultimately, there will be a D1 champion and a D2 champion.
Two women's games are played on Sundays only at 4 p.m. and at 5.30 p.m. Men's games are on Sundays at 7 p.m., Mondays at 6.15 p.m. and two games on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 6.15 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. Basketball technical director Victor 'Voot' O'Garro said, 'This merger of the two divisions has proven to be a success so far, especially due to the recent outcome where a Division 1 team was upset by a Division 2 team. And, with still quite a number of games remaining, we can look forward to more surprises.' Teams to watch out for in the women's league are Welly's, who are the defending champions, Dream-Home Gas Flames with Yolani Manzanares and Alessandra Hawkins and coached by Wendy Manzanares, Lady Warriors with Hannah Parchment and Dionne Anglin, and new on the scene are the Islanders with Olivia Samuels and Sashante Lawrence-Wilks.
In Division 1, it's three-time defending champions Sol Blazers most likely to be the team to topple, but the Warriors, with Collin Anglin (186-G-78), are hoping for a comeback. George Town Sports Club who are five time champions have some new talent to blend in with established players like Jamaal Miller and Travis Barnes. They are in the rebuilding process and, with the help of their younger players, are on the right track.
In Division 2, there are a few new teams with PwC leading the way, plus the young team of the CI Hoopsters coached by Daniel Augustine, with emerging talent like Arin Taylor and Juawon Ebanks. Ebanks was last year's Division 2 assist champion and Taylor was the most improved player in Division 2.
