Mexico U17-Costa Rica U17 78:52
The hosts overpower Costa Rica U17 in the opener of the Centrobasket U17 Championship for Women. Mexico produced 78:52 for the first win in the tournament.
The hosts looked too good in the opening tip of the game and grabbed an early lead. They finished the first frame at 19:11 and looked forward to keep the score for good. Mexico added 17:10 in the second quarter for 36:21 advantage at the halftime. Costa Rica U17 could be proud of the third period when they had 18:18 against the hosts. Both teams started the last period with 54:39 and it became clear that Mexico would benefit from the game. They won also the last stanza 24-13 to take 1-0 record in the group. The board showed 78:52 as the players heard the final whistle of the referee.
Martinez Sheyla and Acero Maria top-scored for the winners with 16 points apiece. Navarro Adriana and Noriega Ana followed them with 12 points each. Mayorga Michelle delivered 14 points in defeat, while Acosta Karen posted 9.
Guatemala and Costa Rica will oped Game 2 of the Centrobasket U17 Championship for Women. Mexico will face Virgin Islands in the last game of the day.

Puerto Rico U17-Guatemala U17 61:48
Puerto Rico U17 enjoyed the start of the Centrobasket U17 Championship for Women that just started in Mexico. They overpower Guatemala U17 61:48 in the opener.
Puerto Rico U17 went on an early lead and played better in the first quarter. The team took 16:9 after the first 10 minutes due to a great defensive game. Guatemala U17 looked better in the second frame, however lost it 13-14 and trailed 22:30 at the halftime. It seemed that the teams knew each other well and would score more in the third period, but they did not. Puerto Rico U17 kept the opponents to 13-8 in the frame and had 13 points advantage before the last quarter. Both teams nailed 18 points in the final stanza to end up with 61:48 as a total.
Rita Acevedo (168-G-92) and Torres Ashley paced all the winners with 13 points apiece. Williams Yamerie and Ramos Lirielys followed them with 10 points each for 1-0 record. Gonzalez Linda ended up with 19 points in the losing case and Carrillo Luisa notched 11.
In Day 2 Puerto Rico will play against Bahamas in the second game of the tournament. Guatemala and Costa Rica will oped Game 2 of the Centrobasket U17 Championship for Women.

Virgin Islands U17-Bahamas U17 74:54
Virgin Islands U17 won the opener of the Centrobasket U17 Championship for Women that just started in Mexico. The team overcame Bahamas U17 74:54 for 1-0 record.
Both teams tried hard in the first minutes of the game to show their best in the game. Virgin Islands U17 produced 16:11 in the opening quarter to take the control of the game. The team did not slow down and added another 22-12 in the second period. As a total of the first half, Virgin Islands enjoyed 38:23 when the teams went to the lockers. Bahamas U17 had difficulties scoring in the third period and posted only seven. The winners, meanwhile increased their lead to 13 more points as they nailed 20. Bahamas U17 however looked better in the last period and was able to respond with 24-16 to finish the game.
Rogers Kylaine top-scored for the winners with 17 points and 12 rebounds. Hendrickson Melanesia and Peters Aesha posted 11 each, while Vanterpool Shamyra added 10. Sandiford Taneka top-scored for Bahamas with 21 points and Harrison Britenique notched 9.
In Day 2 Bahamas will face Puerto Rico in the second game of the tournament. Virgin Islands will play against the hosts in the last game of the day.
