Mexico U17 - Guatemala U17 91:49
Mexico ensured the third straight win at the U17 Centrobasket tournament. Yesterday Mexico defeated Guatemala to improve at 3-0 record. Guatemala remained winless at 0-3 record.
The hosts of the tournament breezed past their opponents in the third round. Mexico grabbed a 20:11 lead after ten minutes. Guatemala could not threaten the margin and trailed by as many as 16 points at the interval. The teams traded baskets in the third quarter as Guatemala seemed to pick up the slack and matched the hosts effort. But the advantage still grew for Mexico. The home team unleashed 33 points in the final quarter and celebrated a confident win at the end.
Andrea Medina (-93) ensured 19 points for Mexico. Ana Noriega (-93) had 16 points for the winners. Linda Gonzalez (-93) answered with 17 points for Guatemala. Emily Quan canned 16 points in the loss.
Mexico will face Bahamas today. Guatemala will be opposed by Virgin Islands in the fourth round.

Costa Rica U17 - Bahamas U17 68:52
Costa Rican U17 selection grabbed the second win at the Centrobasket tournament. They defeated Bahamas in Aguascalientes yesterday to improve at 2-1 record. Bahamas slipped at 0-3 at the bottom of the ladder.
It was a sloppy game at the start as the teams teamed up for just 17 points in the first frame. Costa Rica led 10:7 after ten minutes. The tempo gradually increased as Costa Rica started to take over. They secured a 7-point lead at halftime. Bahamas went off the dressing room eager to snap the losing skid. They outscored Costa Rica in the third period to trail by just 5 points at the final break. But Bahamas could not improve in the final stanza scoring just 10 points. Costa Ricans responded with 21 points and ensured a confident win at the end.
Karen Acosta (-95) notched 21 points and 11 boards to pace Costa Rica. Valeria Miranda (-94) added 12 points, while Yoseline Alfaro had 11 points in the win. Britenique Harrison (-94) answered with 12 points and 12 boards for Bahamas. Taneka Sandiford netted 9 points in defeat.

Puerto Rico U17 Virgin Island U17 83:55
Puerto Rican U17 selection gained the third consecutive win at the Centrobasket tournament in Mexico. They outscored Virgin Islands in Aguascalientes yesterday. Puerto Rico share the top position together with the hosts. Virgin Islands fell at 1-2 record in the fourth spot.
Puerto Rico waste no time to claim their advantage. They unloaded 29 points in the starting stanza worth a 21-point lead. Puerto Rico stretched the gap to as many as 30 points at halftime. Virgin Islands finally found their game after the long break. They shut down Puerto Rican offense and trimmed the margin to 22 points at the final break. But the Latin American team quickly regained control and coasted to the win in the final quarter.
Five Puerto Rico players scored in double figures. Marie Medina scored 14 points for the winners. Keiry Huertas (-94) had 12 points, while Rita Acevedo fell just short of triple-double with 12 points, 9 assists, 9 steals and 7 boards. Shamyra Vanterpool (-92) notched 13 points and 7 boards for Virgin Islands.
