Dominican Republic opened U17 CentroBasket in style. They blasted Cayman Islands 113-41 for 1-0 record in Preliminary Group A. Third participant of this pool is Mexico. Dominican Republic took control on Cayman Islands from the very beginning and never looked back after that. Frabel Feliz Rodriguez stepped up for the winners with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Cheisy Carolay Hernandez had 22 points and 7 rebounds, while Yamel Vanessa Abreu Alvarez was very close to triple-double: 18 points, 14 rebounds and 9 as. In defeat, La-Torae Joan Nixon collected 15 points and 12 boards. Amber Leann Watson had 13 pts and 6 boards, while Rochel Gabrela Gardener stopped to 5 pts. Quarters: 11-27, 27-14, 28-8, 31-8. Guatemala had a joyful Day One of the U17 CentroBasket in Gurabo. They handed 71-60 loss to US Virgin Islands for 1-0 record in Group B. Guatemala had wonderful beginning as they made 29-11 lead in the first ten minutes. They continued with 14-11 in Q2 for plus 21 at that half time. US Virgin Islands improved after that breather, but their deficit was too big. Emily Rosales Quan shined for the winners with 29 points and 5 rebounds. Elliette Mabel Quiroa Hernandez scored 12 points and Nancy Gabriela Izaguirre Rivera added 11 pts, plus 5 rebs. In the loosing squad, Kadesfha Barry collected 10 points and 7 rebs. Merissa Murphy scored 9 points and pulled down 20 rebounds. Quarters: 29-11, 14-11, 17-17, 11-21.

Puerto Rico demonstrated great performance in the opening day of U17 CentroBasket in Gurabo. The hosts of this event smashed Bahamas 101-30 for 1-0 score in Group B. Puerto Rico dominated in all basketball elements against Bahamas. They started with impressive 5-29 in the first quarter and continued with 14-30 in Q2. Nothing has changed after that as Bahamas were simply too week to reply. Puerto Rico made 4-24 in third and 7-18 in the last period for the final 30-101 blowout. Diamalises Rivera Barcelo came up with 15 points and 8 rebounds for the hosts. Daneichka Enid Canales Maldonado had 12 points and 5 as, while Krystal Luciano Mendez added 11 pts and 9 assists. In Bahamas, Taneka Kristine Sandiford had double-double with 15 points and 10 rebs. Their second scorer was Kaylicia Laing with 8 pts.
