Honduras - Puerto Rico 37-78
Puerto Rico takes 2-0 record on top of Group A of the U17 Centrobasket. They edged Honduras 78:37 in Day 2 of the competition. Honduras meanwhile fell at 0-2 record. Puerto Rico erupted with a 20-5 surge and never looked behind in the game. Although Honduras managed to win the second frame 16-15, they could not match the opponents in the second half. Puerto Rico posted a 24-8 run in the third period and finished the game with a 19-8 surge. Robinson Chelsea stepped up with 18 points and 10 rebounds, while Crespo Paola collected 15 points and 13 rebounds. Guevarez Yamaris notched 10, whilst Patricia Nieves (178-C-97) and Gerena Gladyshka had 8 each. Rapalo Nelly produced 18 points in the losing effort and Danna Grenald (99) shot 7. Callejas Victoria produced 4 and Vigil Laura finished the game with 3.
Dominican Republic - Costa Rica 62-54
Dominican Republic beat Costa Rica to tie the records at 1-1 at the U17 Centrobasket. Dominican Republic posted their initial 62:54 win in Day 2. Dominican Republic opened the game with a 13-11 rally, but could not keep the lead at the halftime. Costa Rica bounced back with an 18-11 run and grabbed the advantage at the halftime. Dominican Republic however looked better in the second half and managed to post two victories. They won the third period 16-15 and ended up with 22-10 surge in the last stanza. Hodge Anyi top-scored for the winners with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Morillo Nayely netted 14. Rodriguez Lismier delivered 13 points in a win. Jennifer Sanchez (97) replied with 14 points and 15 rebounds, whilst Mora Emily had 13. Viviana Alfaro (165-SF-97) delivered 10, whilst Solano Yamilah posted 7.
Group B
U.S. Virgin Islands - El Salvador 57-85
El Salvador remain undefeated at home tournament. They posted an 85:57 win over U.S. Virgin Islands for 2-0 record in Group B. The latter meanwhile fell at 0-2 record. El Salvador won the first period 21-17 and also scored 21 points in the second frame. They led 9 points at the halftime and then erupted for the bigger win. The hosts posted an 18-13 rally in the third period and finished the game with a 25-11 run. Martinez Hillary erupted with 35 points for the winners and Iglesias Ana had high 28. Nathalie Sanchez (96) notched 7, whilst Alvarado Liliana notched 6. Akia Frettt (96) answered with 15 points in a loss, whilst Evans Ranai nailed 14. Martinez J'Lene scored 12 and George Sherelle brought 4. Tomorrow El Salvador will take on Mexico for the top place in Group B.
Mexico - Bahamas 115-30
Mexico demolish Bahamas in San Salvador at the second day of U17 Centrobasket. Mexico reached 2-0 record in Group B after a 115:30 victory. Bahamas meanwhile fell at 0-2 record. Mexico was the favorite of the game and started well from the very beginning. They won the first period 23-12 and added 31-4 surge in the second frame. Moreover Mexico exploded in the second half. They rolled over the opponents with a 23-8 burst in the third period and finished the game with a 38-6 surge. Monica Diaz (96) top-scored for the winners with 24 points and Lopez Narda netted 16. Rodriguez Paulina delivered 14, whilst Daniela Rodriguez (97) and Ortiz Oleida poured in 10 each. Rolle Lashae and Nesbitt Valerie produced 9 points each in the losing case. Brown Serena netted 4 and Wilson Isis scored 3.
