Dominican Republic - Costa Rica 62-36
Dominican Republic outgunned Costa Rica to take the first win in Group A. Ashley Baez (163-G-02) was pivotal with 20 points for Dominican Republic. They posted a 48:21 halftime lead. Dominican Republic held Costa Rica to just 15 points in the second half and eased to the win. Angela Jimenez (179-F-03) had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Dominican Republic. Alison Torres (165-F-02) replied with 15 points for Costa Rica.

Mexico - Barbados 99-18
Mexico opened win count in San Juan. They crushed Barbados in the opener. Mariana Valenzuela (184-PF-03) came up with 20 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Mexico built a 42:9 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the win. Livier Burgueno (69-SG-02) had 17 points for the winners. Zahra Ashby (170-G-02) replied with 6 points for Barbados.

Group B
Guatemala - Puerto Rico 32-71
Puerto Rico rallied past Guatemala to ensure the opening win in San Juan. The hosts grabbed a 35:21 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the victory. Nina De Leon (165-G-03) chipped in 19 points for Puerto Rico. Natalie Larranaga (165-F-02) replied with 10 points for Guatemala.

Bahamas - El Salvador 79-59
Bahamas defeated El Salvador to record the initial win in San Juan. El Salvador enjoyed a 19:17 lead ten minutes into the game. But Bahamas went on a 23:9 run in the second term to surge ahead. They followed with a 19:9 rally in the fourth stanza to ice the win. Antonicia Moultrie (183-SG-05) dropped 14 points and collected 9 rebounds for Bahamas. Keylin Murcia (161-SG) replied with 21 points for El Salvador.
