Puerto Rico celebrate title in Managua

Mexico - Puerto Rico 55-71
Puerto Rico conquered Gold in Managua. They rallied past Mexico in the championship game on Wednesday. Puerto Rico dominated from start to finish. They established a 30-24 halftime advantage. Puerto Rico went on a 21-13 run in the third stanza to open a 14-point lead and protected it well throughout the fourth term. Adriana Robles (171-G-2007) delivered 26 points, while Jaida Guerra (155-SG-2007) added 18 points for Puerto Rico. Ana Zesati (184-C-2006) hauled in 15 points and 22 rebounds for Mexico.

3-4 Place

Panama - Dominican Republic 74-80
Dominican Republic stepped onto the pedestal in Managua. They nipped Panama to clinch the third spot. Panama eked out a 34-33 halftime lead. They maintained the advantage throughout the third term heading into the fourth frame up by two points. But Dominican Republic poured in 28 points in the fourth quarter to snatch the win. Camila Ramirez (2006) produced 17 points and 17 rebounds, while Arianna Mercado (165-G-2007) added 14 points for the winners. Vivian Grenald (183-PF-2009) answered with 21 points and 13 rebounds for Panama.

5-6 Place

Nicaragua - El Salvador 49-33
Nicaragua earned the fifth position at the championship as they thumped El Salvador. Marcela Ulloa (2006) posted 23 points to lead the charge. Nicaragua grabbed a 23-19 halftime lead. They used a 15-3 run in the third term to clear off for good. Gabriela Escobar (162-G-2007) had 9 points and 9 caroms for El Salvador.

7-8 Place

Guatemala - Costa Rica 55-50
Guatemala claimed the 7th position in Managua as they overcame Costa Rica on the final day of the championship. Costa Rica led by two points at halftime but Guatemala used a 20-14 run in the fourth stanza to sneak to the win. Argi Perez (172-F-2006) and Marilyn Chocoyo (160-G-2006) produced 11 points each for the winning side. Mariana Benavides (166-SF-2007) answered with 12 points for Costa Rica.
