Dimayor Finals: Liceo Mixto took a 2-0 lead - Nov 23, 2009
Playing as host in Los Andes, Liceo Mixto won games 1 and 2 of the Finals and now will travel to Valdivia, looking to finish the series in four games, while Valdivia will try to even the series playing at the 'Coliseo'.

Game 1

In game one, Valdivia had an 8 point lead entering the fourth quarter, but the host reacted and put a 32-10 run in the last ten minutes to win the game 77-63, led by Briones and Zimmerman in the paint (combined for 31 points) and the huge perfomrnace by Claudio Naranjo (191-F-87), that scored 18 points coming from the bench. For Valdivia, Juma Kamara (198-F-84, college: Portland St.) led the scorers with 27 points (that was Kamara's first game with the team).

Game 2

The second game of the series was even closer than the first, with the teams entering the fourth quarter with a 58-58 tie, but Liceo had a 19-16 run to win the game and took a 2-0 lead in the finals series, making a good use of the home court advantage. The scoring leader for the winners was Patricio Briones with 20 points, helped by Thurman Zimmerman (196-F-83, college: S.Carolina St.), that ended the night with 18. For the visitors, Juma Kamara finished with 23 points.

CD Universidad de Concepcion won the Apertura tournament on sunday night after defeating Liceo Mixto 87-73 in the city of Punta Arenas. Leading by a huge Evandro Arteaga (178-G-83), who scored 30 points, an important second half by Eduardo Marechal (186-G-85) and a huge performance in the boards by Terrell Taylor (203-C-81, college: Virginia Tech) (14 rebounds), CD universidad de Concepcion won the first tournament of the season. In the game for the third place, Boston College defeated Provincial Osorno 95-85.
