Javiera Novion claims Chilean Liga Femenina weekly honour - Nov 14, 2016

Former international Guard Javiera Novion (170-G-87) put on an amazing game in the last round for New Crusaders and that's her to receive a Player of the Week award for round 7.
The 29-year old guard had the game-high 36 points adding seven rebounds and six assists for New Crusaders in her team's victory, helping them to beat Libertad SF (#7, 1-7) 75-70. New Crusaders maintains the 3rd position in Chilean Liga Femenina. They would have been even better if they did not have these two lost games earlier in Regular Season. New Crusaders will need more victories to improve their 4-2 record. Novion has many years of experience at New Crusaders, through which she has constantly improved.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 38-year old former international forward Paola Naranjo (183-F-78) of Libertad SF. Naranjo impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 13 points and 19 rebounds. Bad luck as Libertad SF lost that game 70-75 to the higher-ranked New Crusaders (#3, 4-2). Despite lost game Libertad SF moved up to 7th position in the standings. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Libertad SF managed to get this year. Naranjo is a newcomer at Libertad SF and despite she is not a team leader yet, every game she becomes more reliable player. Hopefully performances like the last one will happen more often.

The third best performed player last round was former international guard Francisca Salvatierra (173-G-94) of second-ranked Chile. Salvatierra scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She was a key player of Chile, leading her team to a 78-65 easy win against the lower-ranked Los Lagos (#8, 1-7). Chile is closer and closer to top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 7-1 record is not that bad... Salvatierra has a great season in Chile. After only 7 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 20.1ppg (4th best) and assists with 3.3apg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Narlyn Mosquera) of Sportiva Ita. - 23 points, 21 rebounds and 3 assists
5. Catalina Lopez (184-C-84) of Chile - 12 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists
6. Melisa Daniela) of Los Lagos - 32 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Florencia Colossi (168-SF-98) of Chile - 19 points and 2 assists
8. Camila Padilla (95) of Sergio Ceppi - 10 points and 10 rebounds
9. Paola Cardenas) of Los Lagos - 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists
10. Dominique Del Canto) of Chile - 7 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
