Liga Femenina Round 12: Brisas are defeated by Univ.de Chile in a derby game - Nov 28, 2016

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Santiago: Univ.de Chile (#2) and Brisas (#5). Univ.de Chile (9-3) smashed visiting Brisas (5-7) by 22 points 76-54. Univ.de Chile dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Brisas' 30. Univ.de Chile forced 22 Brisas turnovers and outrebounded them 46-34 including 35 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Catalina Lopez (184-84) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and the former international guard Francisca Salvatierra (173-94) who added 18 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was international forward Francisca Rojas (176-93, college: Boston Coll.) with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. Brisas' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Univ.de Chile maintains second position with 9-3 record having just two points less than leader Sportiva Ita. Brisas at the other side keep the fifth place with seven games lost. Univ.de Chile are looking forward to face New Crusaders (#3) in Valparaiso in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Brisas' supporters also look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Boston College.

They maintain third position with 8-2 record behind leader Sportiva Ita. Boston College at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. New Crusaders will play against league's second-placed Univ.de Chile in Santiago in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Boston College's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santiago to the arena Brisas.

The best player for the winners was Narlyn Mosquera who had a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Andrea Valdes who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Sportiva Ita. maintains first position with 9-1 record. Libertad SF lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with ten games lost. Sportiva Ita. will meet Sergio Ceppi (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Libertad SF will play against Univ.de Los Lagos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Sergio Ceppi's next round opponent will be league's leader Sportiva Ita. in Valparaiso and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Univ.de Los Lagos will play on the road against Libertad SF (#7) in San Fernando and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
