Liga Femenina Round 16: Univ.de Chile loses the game and top position in their group - Aug 19, 2018

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Liga Femenina. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with change at the leadership position, derby games and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

There was a change at the Liga Femenina leadership position after last games. Round 16 most important game was a defeat of league's leader Univ.de Chile (12-2). They were defeated by third ranked Los Leones (10-4) 81-69 on Saturday night. Los Leones maintains third position in Femenina with 10-4 record having just one point less than leader Boston College. Univ.de Chile at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Boston College. Univ.de Chile will play next round against strong Gimnastico trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Los Leones will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Gimnastico at home.
The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Boston College as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Femenina. Boston College smashed 7th ranked New Crusaders in Santiago 78-54. As mentioned above they took over a top position. New Crusaders at the other side keep the seventh place with six games lost. New Crusaders will play next round against Brisas trying to get back on the winning streak. Boston College will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Univ. Concepcion on the road.
Undefeated Alemana Paillaco (7-1) recorded its first loss at the home court on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by second ranked Castro (5-3) 61-54. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Femenina. Castro maintains second position in Femenina with 5-3 record having twelve points less than leader Boston College. Loser Alemana Paillaco still keeps top place with one game lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
The game between Top Four teams took place in . Third ranked host Madre Paulina (4-3) defeated their biggest opponent Castro (5-3) 63-59. Madre Paulina maintains third position in Femenina with 4-3 record having fourteen points less than leader Boston College. Castro at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

There were no shocking results in the other games in round 16:
In Femenina Lobas lost to New Crusaders on the opponent's court 57-73. Gimnastico outscored Lobas in a home game 84-50. Sergio Ceppi rolled over Brisas on the road 87-43. Univ. Concepcion were defeated by Libertad SF on its own court 50-57. Madre Paulina smashed Osorno Damas in a road game 91-45.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams in Valpara­so where 6th ranked Lobas (5-10) were defeated by seventh ranked New Crusaders (4-6) 73-57 on Wednesday. New Crusaders maintains seventh position in Femenina with 4-6 record. Loser Lobas keep the sixth place with ten games lost. New Crusaders will face Brisas (#10) in Santiago in the next round.

Libertad SF - Brisas 60-55
