There were just four rounds played in Regular Season of Liga Nacional and we can clearly see which teams will fight for top positions and which will try to avoid bottom places. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

An interesting game for Universidad de Concepcion (6-0) which played road game in Puente Alto against one of their biggest challengers Puente Alto (3-2). Top-ranked Universidad de Concepcion managed to get a 7-point victory 73-66. Universidad de Concepcion outrebounded Puente Alto 42-28 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Universidad de Concepcion especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of Venezuelan center Carlos Milano (-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. American center Steven Toyloy (203-87, college: Cincinnati) contributed with 10 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American Rakim Brown (198-91, college: Humboldt St.) replied with 19 points (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for Puente Alto. Undefeated Universidad de Concepcion have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. Puente Alto at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They share the position with AB Ancud. Universidad de Concepcion are looking forward to face league's second-placed Temuco on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Puente Alto will play against Universidad Catolica and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.

At the losing side American center Stanley Robinson (206-88, college: Connecticut) responded with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Los Leones maintains fifth position with 1-4 record. Espanol de Talca at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Los Leones will again play against higher ranked Espanol de Talca (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Espanol de Talca will play against the league's leader Universidad de Concepcion to get more than just one victory in their record.
Liga Nacional top team - CD Castro (4-1) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat fifth ranked Deportivo Valdivia (2-4) 81-66. The winners were led by Walter Baxley who scored that evening 32 points. Even a double-double of 22 points, 22 rebounds and 5 assists by Khapri Alston did not help to save the game for Deportivo Valdivia. CD Castro maintains first position with 4-1 record, which they share with Temuco. Deportivo Valdivia lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with four games lost. They share the position with Osorno. CD Castro will meet at home Las Animas (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Deportivo Valdivia will play against Aleman and it may be a tough game between close rivals.



Puente Alto - CDU Concepcion 66-73

Liga Nacional top team - CD Castro (4-1) managed to deliver another win on Wednesday. This time they beat fifth ranked Deportivo Valdivia (2-4) 81-66. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when CD Castro made 7 blocks. The winners were led by American Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill) who scored that evening 32 points (made all of his eight free throws) and the other American import forward Trayvion Leonard (205-93, college: Barry) supported him with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Even a double-double of 22 points, 22 rebounds and 5 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) by American forward Khapri Alston (196-94, college: Midwestern St.) did not help to save the game for Deportivo Valdivia. Argentinian point guard Nicolas Ferreyra (185-85) added 19 points for lost side. CD Castro maintains first position with 4-1 record, which they share with Temuco.
