The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader and favorites losing the games. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked CD Castro (6-3) on the court of third ranked Deportivo Valdivia on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by Deportivo Valdivia 87-82. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. Deportivo Valdivia made 16-of-18 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Khapri Alston (196-94, college: Midwestern St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 20 points and 18 rebounds. Argentinian point guard Nicolas Ferreyra (185-85) contributed with 24 points and 8 assists (made all of his ten free throws !!!) for the winners. American Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill) answered with 34 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds (made all of his eleven free throws !!!) for CD Castro. Deportivo Valdivia (5-4) moved-up to second place, which they share with AB Ancud. CD Castro at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Deportivo Valdivia is again looking forward to face league's leader CD Castro at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CD Castro will have a break next round.
Sixth-ranked Universidad Catolica (0-10) used its home court advantage to challenge third ranked Los Leones (7-3) in Santiago. The visitors from Quilpue managed to secure only two-point victory 83-81. However their fans expected easier game. It was a great evening for the former international point guard Eduardo Marechal (186-85) who led his team to a victory scoring 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Manuel Guzman helped adding 12 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American forward John Davis (196-94, college: Towson) responded with 27 points and 8 rebounds. Los Leones have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain third place with 7-3 record having just one victory less than leader Temuco. Universidad Catolica at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Los Leones will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Universidad Catolica will play again on the road against Los Leones (#3) in Quilpue and hopes to get finally their first victory.

Host Universidad de Concepcion was defeated by Espanol de Talca in Concepcion 86-72. It was an exceptional evening for Stanley Robinson who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. Espanol de Talca's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Steven Toyloy came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 20 rebounds for Universidad de Concepcion in the defeat. Espanol de Talca maintains fifth place with 5-5 record. Loser Universidad de Concepcion keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Las Animas. Espanol de Talca will meet league's leader Temuco on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Universidad de Concepcion will play against Puente Alto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Visiting Las Animas were defeated by Osorno Basquetbol in a tough game in Osorno 69-78. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Las Animas. Darnell Dodson fired a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Osorno Basquetbol maintains sixth place with 2-8 record. Las Animas at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
An interesting game for Temuco (8-2) which hosted in Temuco 4th placed Puente Alto (4-6). First ranked Temuco managed to get a 4-point victory 86-82. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for TJ Robinson who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists. Puente Alto's coach Pablo Ares rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Temuco. Newly promoted Temuco maintains first place with 8-2 record. Puente Alto lost their third game in a row. They keep the fourth position with six games lost. Temuco will face Espanol de Talca (#5) at home in the next round. Puente Alto will play against the league's second-placed Universidad de Concepcion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 7 AB Ancud was beaten by Puerto Varas on the road 80-76.



CDU Concepcion - CDE Esp. Talca 72-86

Very important is a home loss of second ranked Universidad de Concepcion (6-4) against fifth ranked Espanol de Talca (5-5) on Saturday night. Host Universidad de Concepcion was defeated by Espanol de Talca in Concepcion 86-72. It was an exceptional evening for American center Stanley Robinson (206-88, college: Connecticut) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 16 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import center Tyran Walker (213-89, college: Wake Forest) accounted for 7 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 blocks for the winning side. Four Espanol de Talca players scored in double figures. Espanol de Talca's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American center Steven Toyloy (203-87, college: Cincinnati) came up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 20 rebounds and Venezuelan guard Alexander Morillo (180-92) added 15 points respectively for Universidad de Concepcion in the defeat. Espanol de Talca maintains fifth place with 5-5 record. Loser Universidad de Concepcion keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Las Animas. Espanol de Talca will meet league's leader Temuco on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Universidad de Concepcion will play against Puente Alto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

They outrebounded Las Animas 44-28 including 29 on the defensive glass. American forward Darnell Dodson (201-89, college: S.Mississippi) fired a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Brazilian center Dida Pereira (202-92, college: Sequoias CC) chipped in a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. American forward Arnold Louis (201-90, college: Savannah St., agency: HMS) produced 23 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import Brandon Robinson (198-89, college: Clayton St.) added 19 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. Osorno Basquetbol maintains sixth place with 2-8 record. Las Animas at the other side keep the second position with four games lost. We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when fifth ranked Aleman (4-5) beat 4th placed AB Ancud (5-4) in Puerto Varas 80-76 on Monday. AB Ancud was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for Jamaican-Canadian forward Dwayne Smith (198-89, college: G.Washington, agency: Interperformances) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 6 rebounds. Spanish Alejandro Vergara (196-95) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Aleman players scored in double figures. Aleman's coach allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Jesse Hardin (188-93, college: Walsh) answered with 24 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists and the other American import center Gene Teague (206-89, college: Seton Hall) added 18 points and 14 rebounds in the effort for AB Ancud. An interesting game for Temuco (8-2) which hosted in Temuco 4th placed Puente Alto (4-6). First ranked Temuco managed to get a 4-point victory 86-82. Temuco dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Puente Alto's 26. Temuco forced 23 Puente Alto turnovers and outrebounded them 51-36 including 16 on the offensive glass. Puente Alto was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. It was a very good performance for forward TJ Robinson (203-89, college: Long Beach St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 25 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists. Swingman Jovonni Shuler (195-87, college: Savannah St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Shuler is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Temuco players scored in double figures. Rakim Brown (198-91, college: Humboldt St.) answered with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 17 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and Aaron Cosby (190-92, college: W.Kentucky) added 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds in the effort for Puente Alto.
