Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

Top ranked Temuco (9-3) recorded its third loss on the court of fifth ranked Puente Alto on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Puente Alto 86-84. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. Puente Alto forced 21 Temuco turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. 24 personal fouls committed by Temuco helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was Aaron Cosby (190-92, college: W.Kentucky) who scored 28 points and 4 assists. Rakim Brown (198-91, college: Humboldt St.) chipped in 21 points and 11 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward TJ Robinson (203-89, college: Long Beach St.) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Puente Alto (6-6) moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Newly promoted Temuco still keeps top position with three games lost. Puente Alto is looking forward to face Universidad de Concepcion (#5) at home in the next round. Temuco will play against Espanol de Talca (#4) and is hoping to win this game.
Important game to mention about took place in Talca. Third ranked Espanol de Talca (6-6) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 4th placed Universidad de Concepcion (6-6) 96-94 in the game for the third place. It was a good game for Puerto Rican forward Benito Santiago (198-89, college: Cumberlands) who led his team to a victory with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists. Stanley Robinson contributed with 30 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. International guard Diego Silva (186-93) answered with 31 points and 6 assists (on 11-of-14 shooting from the field) for Universidad de Concepcion. Espanol de Talca maintains third place with 6-6 record having just three points less than leader Las Animas, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Universidad de Concepcion. Universidad de Concepcion lost third consecutive game. Espanol de Talca will play against league's leader Temuco at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Universidad de Concepcion will play against Puente Alto and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was a key game for the top position in the league. Khapri Alston stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Deportivo Valdivia's coach Juan Manuel Cordoba used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Walter Baxley with 37 points (!!!) and 7 assists. Deportivo Valdivia have a solid series of three victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Las Animas and Los Leones. CD Castro at the other side dropped to the third place with five games lost. Deportivo Valdivia will meet at home AB Ancud (#5) in the next round. CD Castro will play against Aleman in Puerto Varas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Leader Las Animas delivered the eighth victory. This time they beat bottom-ranked Universidad Catolica (0-12) 79-63 in Santiago. Brandon Robinson nailed 31 points and 9 rebounds for the winning side. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Las Animas maintains first place with 8-4 record, which they share with CD Valdivia and Los Leones. Universidad Catolica at the other side still closes the standings with 12 games lost. Las Animas' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Los Leones in Quilpue and it will be for sure the game of the week. Universidad Catolica will play at home against Osorno Basquetbol (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.

In the last two games of round 9 Osorno was defeated by Los Leones in Quilpue 93-87. Puerto Varas beat AB Ancud at home 96-82.



CD Valdivia - CD Castro 116-106

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Valdivia. Second ranked Deportivo Valdivia faced 4th placed CD Castro. Host Deportivo Valdivia (8-4) defeated guests from Castro (7-5) 116-106. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Deportivo Valdivia made 24-of-28 free shots (85.7 percent) during the game. American forward Khapri Alston (196-94, college: Midwestern St.) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 15 rebounds for the winners and Argentinian point guard Nicolas Ferreyra (185-85) chipped in 26 points and 9 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). There was no surprise in Quilpue where 6th ranked Osorno Basquetbol (3-9) was defeated by second ranked Los Leones (8-4) 93-87. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Los Leones players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Dominican power forward Manuel Guzman (204-82, college: Bemidji St.) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists for the winning side and American point guard Scott Rodgers (191-87, college: Drexel) accounted for 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Darnell Dodson (201-89, college: S.Mississippi) came up with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds and Brazilian center Dida Pereira (202-92, college: Sequoias CC) added 21 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Osorno Basquetbol in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Los Leones have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with CD Valdivia and Las Animas. Osorno Basquetbol at the other side keeps the sixth place with nine games lost.
