The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. The fans could enjoy quite many interesting games in the last round. The round ended with defeat of the leader. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Temuco (14-7) on the court of third ranked Universidad de Concepcion on Monday night. Visitors were defeated by Universidad de Concepcion 69-64. It was a good game for American power forward Anthony Kent (208-83, college: Ball St.) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 18 rebounds. International guard Diego Silva (186-93) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American forward TJ Robinson (203-89, college: Long Beach St.) replied with 25 points and 8 rebounds for Temuco. Universidad de Concepcion maintains third position with 10-9 record having three points less than leader Temuco, which they share with AB Ancud. Newly promoted Temuco still keeps top place with seven games lost. Universidad de Concepcion is looking forward to face league's second-placed Deportivo Valdivia on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Temuco will play against Aleman in Puerto Varas and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another interesting game for AB Ancud (10-9) which played on the court of CD Castro (9-10). Fourth ranked AB Ancud had an easy win 102-84. American center Gene Teague (206-89, college: Seton Hall) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and Sebastian Suarez chipped in 27 points and 4 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Winsome Frazier (193-82, college: Mississippi St., agency: Interperformances) with 31 points. AB Ancud have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with CDU Concepcion. CD Castro at the other side dropped to the fourth position with ten games lost. They share it with Puente Alto. AB Ancud will play against league's second-placed Los Leones in Quilpue in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CD Castro will play on the road against Universidad Catolica in Santiago and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
A very close game took place in Puerto Varas between Aleman and Deportivo Valdivia. Third ranked Aleman (11-9) got a very close home victory over second-best Deportivo Valdivia (13-6). Aleman managed to escape with a 3-point win 78-75 on Sunday evening. Ikenna Mbamalu notched 33 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds to lead the effort. Even 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists by Nicolas Ferreyra did not help to save the game for Deportivo Valdivia. Aleman maintains third position with 11-9 record having just one point less than leader Temuco. Loser Deportivo Valdivia keeps the second place with six games lost. Aleman will meet at home league's leader Temuco in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Deportivo Valdivia will play against Universidad de Concepcion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

It was a good game for Khapri Alston who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Deportivo Valdivia maintains second position with 13-6 record behind leader Temuco. Loser Aleman keeps the third place with nine games lost. Deportivo Valdivia will face Universidad de Concepcion (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Aleman will play against the league's leader Temuco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 18: Las Animas smashed Osorno on the road 83-54. CDE Esp. Talca won against Puente Alto on its own court 104-87. Los Leones outscored CDU Catolica in Quilpue 102-71. AB Ancud managed to beat CD Castro at home 94-88. Osorno was defeated by Las Animas on the opponent's court 82-71. Los Leones beat CDU Catolica in a home game 84-67. CDE Esp. Talca lost to Puente Alto on the road 89-99.



CD Castro - AB Ancud 84-102

Another interesting game for AB Ancud (10-9) which played on the court of CD Castro (9-10). Fourth ranked AB Ancud had an easy win 102-84. AB Ancud dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to CD Castro's 40. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 26 assists. American center Gene Teague (206-89, college: Seton Hall) had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 15 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) to lead the charge for the winners and international guard Sebastian Suarez (193-91, college: Portland St.) chipped in 27 points and 4 assists during the contest. No shocking result in a game when first ranked Las Animas (14-4) crushed on the road 6th ranked Osorno Basquetbol (7-13) 83-54 on Saturday. Las Animas dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Osorno Basquetbol's 28. It was a good game for American Brandon Robinson (198-89, college: Clayton St.) who led his team to a victory with 23 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import forward Arnold Louis (201-90, college: Savannah St., agency: HMS) contributed with 23 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Brazilian center Dida Pereira (202-92, college: Sequoias CC) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Darnell Dodson (201-89, college: S.Mississippi) added 10 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Osorno Basquetbol. Espanol de Talca shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 52.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Puente Alto was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for center Stanley Robinson (206-88, college: Connecticut) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Elijah Macon (206-93, college: W.Virginia) contributed with 21 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Macon is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Espanol de Talca players scored in double figures. Forward Jerome Hill (198-94, college: Gardner-Webb, agency: Interperformances) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and Rakim Brown (198-91, college: Humboldt St.) added 19 points in the effort for Puente Alto. They outrebounded Universidad Catolica 46-24 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Los Leones looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Universidad Catolica's players. It was a good game for Canadian forward Grandy Glaze (204-92, college: Grand Canyon) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 18 rebounds.
