MALIK MORGAN

American Guard Malik Morgan (193-G-94) put on an amazing game in the last round for CDU Catolica, receiving a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 24-year old player had a double-double of 33 points and 24 rebounds, while his team crushed Temuco (#1, 19-10) with 24-point margin 80-56. CDU Catolica maintains the 6th position in their group in Chilean Liga Nacional. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 24 games and recorded just three victories. In the team's last game Morgan had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range. He turned to be CDU Catolica's top player in his first season with the team. Malik Morgan averages this season 18.1ppg and 8.3rpg.

The second best player in last round's games was 24-year old American Khapri Alston (196-F-94) of league's second-best CD Valdivia. Alston had a very good evening with a double-double of 29 points and 21 rebounds. Of course he led CD Valdivia to another comfortable win 94-80 over the lower-ranked CDE Esp. Talca (#5, 6-20) being unquestionably team leader. CD Valdivia's second position in Conferencia Sur has not changed. His team's 18-9 record is not bad at all. Alston is a newcomer at CD Valdivia, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.9ppg (#3). He also registered 15.9 boards per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was American forward Terrence Shannon (203-F-79) of Osorno (#6). Shannon showcased his all-around game by recording 29 points, fifteen rebounds (!!!) and five assists in the last round. He was a key player of Osorno, leading his team to a 100-68 easy win against slightly higher-ranked CD Castro (#5, 13-14). The chances of Osorno not to end season at such low position in Conferencia Sur, however are less than slim as they have already lost 18 games, recording just ten victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Shannon could try to bring Osorno's a little bit higher in the standings. Shannon has a very solid season. In 5 games in Chile he scored 18.6ppg.

Other top performing players last week:
4. Fabian Martinez (194-F/G) of Osorno - 28 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Martin Perdomo (185-G-95) of CD Castro - 33 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists
6. Grandy Glaze (204-F-92) of Los Leones - 18 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Joe Efese (198-PF-90) of CDU Catolica - 26 points and 15 rebounds
8. Alvaro Calvo (202-SF-83) of Puerto Varas - 30 points and 13 rebounds
9. T.J. Robinson (203-F-89) of Temuco - 30 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
10. Nicolas Ferreyra (185-PG-85) of CD Valdivia - 17 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
