American Trayvion Leonard (205-F-93) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for CD Castro and that's him to receive a Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 23. The 25-year old forward had a double-double of 37 points and twenty one rebounds, while his team beat CDE Esp. Talca (#5, 10-22) 91-80. CD Castro maintains the 5th position in their group in Chilean Liga Nacional. CD Castro is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 16-16 record. In the team's last game Leonard had a remarkable 73.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be CD Castro's top player in his first season with the team. Barry University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Leonard is in league's top in rebounds (6th best: 11.0rpg) and averages solid 60.3% FGP.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 24-year old American forward Khapri Alston (196-F-94) of second-ranked CD Valdivia. Alston impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 24 points and 18 rebounds. Of course CD Valdivia cruised to a 89-80 relatively comfortable win over slightly lower-ranked Los Leones (#3, 18-14). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Conferencia Centro. CD Valdivia consolidated its place in top 2 of the standings. His team's 20-12 record is not bad at all. Alston is a newcomer at CD Valdivia and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.6ppg (#5). He also registered 15.9 boards per game.
The third best performed player last round was Canadian Grandy Glaze (204-F-92) of Los Leones (#3). Glaze scored 21 points and grabbed fourteen rebounds (!!!). Despite Glaze's great performance Los Leones lost 76-93 to #3 ranked Puerto Varas. But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Los Leones needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in Conferencia Centro. Their record is 18 victories and 14 lost games. Glaze has a great season in Chile. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 11.4rpg (5th best).
