ARRIEROS DE ANTIOQUIA, FEDERATION CUP
2010, CHAMPIONS.
Arrieros de Antioquia is back in the tittle of the Colombian Basketball
Federation Cup, the green team defeated Cucuta Norte 93 85 in the fifth
game and won the series 4-1.
The game began with Arrieros making its play while Cucuta Norte did not
found a way to stop them, finishing the first quarter 30-21 Arrieros
ahead.
The second quarter was more of the same, both teams playing weak
defensive and static offensives that finished the most in one on one
plays, Ortiz , Flores and Guillente leaded Arrieros and Torres and
Herrera did it with Cucuta.
The second half began with Cucuta more focused while Arrieros had to
send Ortiz and Aragon to the bench with foul problems, Cucuta arrived to
the end of the third one point ahead.
But Arrieros found in the bench the solution, Andrs Arcila who had
played less that 5 minutes per game in the series enters the wood
replacing Ortiz and with 10 points in its box including a couple of
three pointers changed the Arrieros attitude in the third and motivated
its teammates to win the game, Cucuta began to loss the control,
Eluterio Renteria was ejected after had hard words to the officials and
the black team also made several turnovers, allowing Arrieros run the
fastbreak easily.
Cucuta really missed a best performance of Francisco Sanabria, also
missed the injured Heberth Bayona, Arrieros played solid, its big four
of Guillent, Ortiz, Flores and Aragn build a solid foundation, with the
backup of a good bench with guys like Fernandez, Mosquera, Marn and
Perez that always gives solid minutes.
Arrieros won a well deserved tittle, the organization worked hard to put
together a winner line up, the team now likes to get a place in the FIBA
Americas Cup.
According to some sources Cucuta players were unhappy and demotivated
with the team directives because they are not receiving their payments,
something that is happening in the team the last three seasons, the
directives makes an expensive team finishing with the same kind of
problems .
