LPB Round 5: Cimarrones defeat Sabios in the closest game of the week - Oct 15, 2018

LPB is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 5 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most exciting game of round 5 in the LPB took place in Quibdo-Choco. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Sabios (1-5) to third ranked Cimarrones (2-4) 79-77 in the game for the third place. Cimarrones well out of reach of Sabios shooting 100.0 percent from the field. It was a great shooting night for Cimarrones especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 100.0 percentage. Venezuelan point guard Emiro Hernandez (188-94) stepped up and scored 21 points and 5 assists (perfect from the field making all nine shots !!!) for the winners and American forward Ronell Abaekobe (201-93, college: Cumberland) chipped in 19 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Ngafi Shey (-98) responded with 23 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Defending champion maintains third place with 2-4 record having just three points less than leader Titanes which they share with defeated Sabios. Sabios lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the third position with five games lost. They share it with Piratas. Cimarrones are looking forward to face league's second-placed Academia in Montana in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sabios will have a break next round.
The game between Top Four teams took place in Bogota. First ranked host Fast Break (5-1) smashed second-ranked Academia (4-2) 81-58. It was a key game for the top position in the league. American Karl Moore (203-87, college: Culver Stockton) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and Kenny Brown accounted for 20 points and 5 assists. International forward Michael Hinestroza-Javes (208-90, college: UALR) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 20 rebounds for Academia in the defeat. Fast Break have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-1 record, which they share with Titanes. Academia at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Warriors. Fast Break will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Academia will play on the road against Cimarrones in Quibdo-Choco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Cimarrones - Sabios 79-77

International forward Michael Hinestroza-Javes (208-90, college: UALR) came up with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 20 rebounds and the former international point guard Simon Granados (182-93) added 16 points respectively for Academia in the defeat. Fast Break have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-1 record, which they share with Titanes. Academia at the other side keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Warriors.
