We bring you last week's top performances from Colombians who are playing abroad and who all have had prior experience of national team duties at youth or senior level.
#1. This week's number one is an experienced former international power forward
Juan Palacios (206-85, currently plays in France). He led
Chalon/Saor to a victory over the 16th-ranked Le Portel (4-14) crushing them
92-70 in the French Jeep ELITE in Saturday night's game.
Palacios was MVP of the game. He had a double-double by scoring 19 points and getting 10 rebounds. Palacios also added 3 assists in 34 minutes on the court.
ES Chalon-Sur-Saone (10-8) is placed sixth in the Jeep ELITE.
It's Palacios' first season with the team.
He has relatively good stats this year: 14.0ppg, 5.5rpg, 2.4apg, 1.2spg, 2FGP: 51.0%, 3FGP: 31.0% and FT: 85.1% in 18 games he played so far.
Palacios has a dual citizenship: Colombian and Spanish.
Former Guerreros de Bogota starter played for the Colombian senior national team two years ago.
#2. Second place goes to former international forward
Andres Ibarguen (196-96, currently plays college basketball in the States), who plays in the NCAA. He could not help the
Texas Arlington (4-2) in their last game on Saturday. Despite Ibarguen's good performance his team was defeated
77-71 at home by the Georgia State University.
He scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
This season Ibarguen averages: 7.1ppg, 6.9rpg, 2FGP: 60.6%(43-71).
He played for the Colombian national team in 2016.
#3. The Colombian player who performed third best last week abroad was an international power forward
Jhan Paul Mejia (208-94, college:
Charleston, currently plays in Spain). Mejia was not able to help
Quintanar in their game against Gran Canaria II (14-3) in the Spanish EBA (fourth division).
He scored 8 points.
The fifth-placed Quintanar (9-8) was defeated
74-61 on the road by the leading Gran Canaria II in the Group B.
Mejia's overall stats this season are: 8.6ppg, 4.1rpg, 2FGP: 58.5%(38-65), 3FGP: 29.6% and FT: 60.9%.
He is another player who holds two passports: Colombian and Spanish.
Mejia is also a member of the Colombian senior national team.
#4. Point guard
Hansel Atencia (178-97, currently plays in NAIA) contributed to a
The Master's College, CA's victory against the Arizona Christian University
100-86 in the NAIA in Thursday night's game.
He recorded 21 points and added 9 assists in 38 minutes.
The The Master's College, CA has a very solid 5-1 record this season.
Atencia has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 18.0ppg, 3.2rpg, 5.3apg and 1.3spg in 12 games.
Atencia has both Spanish and Colombian nationalities.
He is also Colombian national team player.

#2. Jaime Echenique (211-F/C, currently studies in the States), who plays in the NCAA could not help the
Wichita St. (1-4) to beat the University of South Florida (2-2).
He scored 6 points, grabbed 6 rebounds and made 2 blocks.

Echenique's overall stats this season are: 7.9ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.3bpg.
#3. Experienced
Luis Julio (201-C-80, currently plays in Chile) was not able to help
Aleman (14-12) in their last game. Despite his very good performance the third-placed Aleman (14-12) lost
72-78 on the road to the leading Las Animas in the Conferencia Sur.
Julio had a double-double by scoring 15 points and getting 12 rebounds in 28 minutes.
The Regular Season already ended.
This year Julio has relatively solid stats: 14.3ppg, 10.3rpg and 2.3apg in 26 games.
He has a dual citizenship: Colombian and Venezuelan.
