LPB Round 13: #1 Titanes are defeated by Warriors

Here is the last round review presented by ESL.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Titanes (9-3) on the court of seventh ranked Warriors on Friday night. Visitors were edged by Warriors 65-62. Warriors forced 20 Titanes turnovers. International guard Michaell Jackson (196-87) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds for the winners and international forward Luis Almanza (196-91) chipped in 15 points. At the losing side American-Dominican swingman Luis Jacobo (196-91, college: PFW) responded with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Warriors have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain seventh place with 4-8 record. Defending champion Titanes still keep top position with three games lost. Warriors are again looking forward to face league's leader Titanes in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Titanes will have a break next round.
Fourth ranked Fast Break (6-6) crushed at home 5th ranked Bucaros (5-7) by 16 points 72-56, which is the biggest margin this round. American guard Dermaine Crockrell (185-89, college: Bemidji St.) nailed 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side and T Cobos accounted for 13 points and 6 rebounds. Fast Break's coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Cristian Arboleda (205-91) came up with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds for Bucaros in the defeat. Fast Break maintains fourth place with 6-6 record. Bucaros at the other side keep the fifth position with seven games lost. Fast Break will again play against Bucaros (#5) in Bucaramanga in the next round. Bucaros will have a break next round.

In the last game of round 13 Cimarrones lost to Piratas on the opponent's court 82-90.

Piratas - Cimarrones 90-82

Rather expected game in Bogota where 6th ranked Cimarrones (4-7) were defeated by third ranked Piratas (6-5) 90-82. Venezuelan power forward Jose Ascanio (204-96) nailed a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and Venezuelan guard Yohanner Sifontes (192-95) accounted for 30 points (made all of his ten free throws !!!). Piratas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The former international swingman Eleuterio Renteria (194-81) came up with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and Venezuelan center Miguel Bolivar (205-92) added 16 points and 11 rebounds respectively for Cimarrones in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Piratas have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain third place with 6-5 record having four points less than leader Titanes. Cimarrones lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Piratas will again play against Cimarrones (#6) in Quibdo-Choco in the next round. Cimarrones will have a break next round.
