Warriors - Piratas 74-65 The most important game in the last round took place in between third ranked Piratas (8-9) and seventh ranked Warriors (5-9) on Monday night. Piratas were defeated by Warriors in a tough game on the road 65-74. Warriors outrebounded Piratas 42-29 including 31 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for international guard Michaell Jackson (196-87) who led his team to a victory with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. American Michael Murray (196-91, college: Coppin St.) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Five Warriors players scored in double figures. Warriors' coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Venezuelan guard Yohanner Sifontes (192-95) replied with 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international power forward Jairo Mendoza (203-85, college: New Orleans) added 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Piratas. Warriors maintains seventh position with 5-9 record. Piratas at the other side keep the third place with nine games lost. They share the position with Academia. Third ranked Piratas (8-9) played at the court of 7th ranked Warriors (5-9). Piratas managed to secure a 5-point victory 79-74 on Tuesday. Piratas outrebounded Warriors 44-30 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Venezuelan guard Yohanner Sifontes (192-95) notched 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and Venezuelan point guard Edwin Mijares (186-92) supported him with 18 points and 9 assists. Even 17 points and 5 rebounds by American point guard DeSean Mattox (185-90, college: E.Oregon, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Warriors. His fellow American import Michael Murray (196-91, college: Coppin St.) added 19 points and 4 assists. Four Warriors players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Piratas maintains third position with 8-9 record having three points less than leader Titanes, which they share with Academia. Loser Warriors stay at the bottom place with nine games lost. Second ranked Fast Break had an easy win 79-51. Fast Break dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Academia's 32. Fast Break forced 23 Academia turnovers and outrebounded them 49-26 including a 24-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The former international guard Stalin Ortiz (190-81, college: Valpo) scored 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Dermaine Crockrell (185-89, college: Bemidji St.) chipped in 20 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Crockrell is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. The best for the losing side was American point guard Frank Agholor (183, college: York, NE) with 17 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import center Mike Chandler (203-92) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fast Break have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-6 record having four points less than leader Titanes. Academia at the other side keeps the third place with nine games lost. They share the position with Piratas.
