Pirates de Bogota blows a 30 point lead that almost cost them the game- November 21, 2019
At the start of Round 4 of the LPB Semi-finals Piratas de Bogota took advantage of being home and applied pressure on defense giving them great results at the end of the first quarter, score was 38-8. Second quarter Coach Jose Tapias kept his star players in and refuse to sit them out trying to add more points to the scoreboard but that did not turn out so well. Fatigue kicked in on the home team and they slowly started to lose momentum, this gave Fastbreak the opportunity to tighten up their defense and start making shots. Piratas went 7 deep this game, keeping three of their most valuable players in throughout the whole game, causing them to blow a 30 point lead. Crockrell who's a key player for Fastbreak did not play. Veteran National player Stalin Ortiz (190-G-81, college: Valpo) step up this game bringing the energy they needed after being down 30 points. Coach Abimael Palacios gave his National players the green light to contribute making this a close game which came down to the wire, with 5 min remaining fastbreak trailed by 1 but wasn't able to complete this tremendous comeback. |
