Carrib.Storm - Team Cali 79-78

Caribbean Storm topped Team Cali in the opener. Storm made 22-of-28 free shots (78.6 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 Team Cali turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of international Michaell Jackson (190-87) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds. International forward Luis Almanza (196-91) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Dominican power forward Jeromy Rodriguez (201-96, college: ETSU) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds and Dominican forward Rich Polanco (203-97, college: S.Dakota) added 13 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Team Cali. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

Motilones rallied past Tigrillos in Game 1. Motilones held Tigrillos to an opponent 22.5 percent shooting from the field compared to 40.3 percent accuracy of the winners. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Motilones made 14 blocks. Dominican center Luis Santos (203-94, college: St.Louis) nailed a triple-double by scoring 19 points, 13 rebounds and 11 blocks for the winning side and Dominican point guard Richard Bautista (187-97) accounted for 8 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. American forward Jacob Calloway (202-96, college: SUU) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 15 rebounds and the other American import guard Gabe McCray (201-94, college: SC State, agency: Interperformances) added 15 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Tigrillos in the defeat. At the losing side forward Mateo Arboleda (185-99) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Akeem Ellis (198-90, college: Coppin St., agency: BIG) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
