Here is the weekly review of the top performing Colombian players, who play currently abroad.
#1. This week's number one is an international guard
Siaan Rojas (201-96, college:
WWU, currently plays in Brazil). He contributed to
Brasilia's victory against the 11th-ranked Fortaleza (6-9)
82-75 in the Brazilian NBB in Tuesday night's game.
Rojas scored 10 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and made 2 blocks in 22 minutes on the court.
BRB/Brasiliais placed in the NBB.
It's Rojas' first season with the team.
This year he averages: 7.6ppg, 4.4rpg, 1.9apg, 3FGP: 29.8% and FT: 62.5% in 16 games he played so far.
Rojas is a naturalized American.
He is currently a member of the Colombian senior national team. Rojas used to play for Piratas de Bogota in Colombian league.
#2. Second place goes to an international forward
Andres Ibarguen (198-96, college:
Angelo St., currently plays in Spain). He could not help
Prat (4-9) in their last game on Sunday. Despite Ibarguen's good performance Prat was defeated
81-70 at home by the much higher-ranked Acunsa GBC (#9).
He recorded 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Ibarguen has relatively good stats this season: 10.2ppg, 4.8rpg, 2FGP: 69.3%(52-75) and FT: 78.0%.
He is in the roster of the Colombian senior national team.
#3. The Colombian player who performed third best last week abroad was an experienced former U17 international forward
Deiman Reyes (203-1, currently plays college basketball in the States). He was not able to help the
Lamar in their game against the Stephen F. Austin State University (4-1) in the NCAA. Reyes' contribution was not very remarkable in Monday's game.
He scored only 3 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.
The Lamar was defeated
86-78 on their home court in Beaumont by the Stephen F. Austin State University.
So far Lamar lost all four games in the conference Reyes' overall stats this season are: 0.5ppg, 1.6rpg, 2FGP: 12.5%.
He played for the Colombian U17 national team five years ago.
#4. Power forward
Jhan Paul Mejia (208-94, college:
Charleston, currently plays in Spain) was not able to secure a victory for
Quintanar (7-9) in their game against Alcala (11-5) in the Spanish EBA (fourth division). Mejia did not have that impressive stats last Saturday.
He recorded only 2 points and grabbed 5 rebounds in 20 minutes.
The tenth-placed Quintanar (7-9) was badly defeated
76-59 on the road by the much higher-ranked (#3) Alcala in the Group B.
It was Quintanar's third consecutive loss in a row.
This year Mejia has relatively solid stats: 10.9ppg, 6.4rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg in 16 games.
He has a dual citizenship: Colombian and Spanish.
Mejia used to play for the Colombian national team
back in 2020.
#5. International forward
Soren De Luque (196-98, currently plays in Argentina) led
Pergamino to a victory against the fourth-ranked Zarate Basket (4-3)
91-86 in the Argentinian La Liga Argentina (second division) on Friday night.
He scored 19 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. It was his first game for Pergamino this season.
His team is placed fourth in Conferencia Sur.
There are only two games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical.
De Luque plays currently for the Colombian national team.
One more player who has never been selected to any of national teams, but has Colombian passport: #1. Jesse Zarzuela (188-PG, currently plays college basketball in the States) led
Coppin St. to a 3-point victory against the Morgan State University (1-1)
79-76 in a derby game in the NCAA on Saturday night.
Zarzuela recorded 11 points and added 4 passes in 30 minutes.
The Coppin State University has 2-0 conference record this season.
The Regular Season already ended in the NCAA.
Zarzuela has individually a very good year with high stats. He averages: 15.4ppg, 3.3rpg, 3.4apg and 1.5spg in 14 games he played so far.
Zarzuela has a dual citizenship: Colombian and Dominican Republic.
