Chilean Guard Franco Morales (179-G) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for top-ranked Team Cali, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 8.
The player was the main contributor (24 points, eight rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Condores (#4, 1-7) 97-82. It allowed Team Cali to consolidate first place in the Colombian Liga WPlay. Team Cali have a solid 7-1 record. Morales turned to be Team Cali's top player in his first season with the team. Franco Morales has solid league stats. He is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 4.5apg).
The second best player in last round's games was young American Michael Rodriguez (178-PG-1994) of Condores. Rodriguez had a very good evening with 30 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Bad luck as Condores lost that game 82-97 to the higher-ranked Team Cali (#1, 7-1). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group B. Condores still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. 7 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Condores managed to get this year. Rodriguez is a newcomer at Condores, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.1ppg (#2). His other stats are also decent: 6.0rpg and 3.8apg.
Third on the list of top players last round was another Team Cali's star - Dominican Rep. forward Jeromy Rodriguez (201-F-1996). Rodriguez scored 28 points and grabbed eight rebounds. He was another key player of Team Cali, helping his team with a 85-73 win against #4 ranked Condores. Team Cali confirms their top position in Group B. Rodriguez has a great season in Colombia. After only 8 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 22.9ppg (2nd best), rebounds with 9.1rpg (7th best) and assists with 1.8apg (6th best). He also has 1.1bpg and FGP: 55.0%.
