Colombian Liga Wplay round 14 best performance: Jeremy Smith (by Hoops Agents)- October 27, 2022
The 25-year old player was the main contributor (25 points, eight rebounds and two assists) to his team's victory, helping them to outclass Condores (#4, 1-13) with 27-point margin 119-92. It allowed Piratas to take over top position in the Colombian Liga Wplay. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Piratas has a very solid 12-4 record, but they cannot be too comfortable about keeping top position. In the team's last game Smith had a remarkable 62.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Piratas' top player in his first season with the team. Former California State University San Bernardino star has very solid stats this year. Smith is in league's top in points (4th best: 20.5ppg), assists (5th best: 4.4apg) and averages impressive 55.4% FGP and 48.4% from behind 3-point line. The second best player in last round's games was young Sudanese Thik Bol (203-F-1996) of Condores. Bol had a very good evening with a double-double of 25 points and 19 rebounds. Bad luck as Condores lost that game 92-119 to the higher-ranked Piratas (#1, 12-4). It was definitely game of the week between two contenders to the top position in Group B. Condores still maintains its place in the top 4 of the standings, even despite this loss. 13 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Condores managed to get this year. Bol is a newcomer at Condores, but is already one of team's top players. Third on the list of top players last round was another Piratas' star - forward Sebastian Valencia (200-F-1997). Valencia scored 26 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). He was another key player of Piratas, helping his team with a 119-92 easy win against #4 ranked Condores. Piratas confirms their top position in Group B. Their record at this point is 12 victories and 4 lost games. Valencia has a great season in Colombia. After 12 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 9.8rpg (2nd best). He also has FGP: 64.1% and 3PT: 40.6%. Other top performing players last week: 4. Tristan Jarrett (193-G) of Piratas - 36 points and 5 rebounds 5. Jhon Hernandez (208-C-1984) of Corsarios - 19 points and 13 rebounds 6. Jevonlean Hedgeman (202-PF-1995) of Piratas - 19 points and 11 rebounds 7. Jeremy Hollowell (203-SF-1994) of Bucaros - 24 points and 9 rebounds 8. Zecaree Veiga (193-G/F-1998) of Condores - 25 points and 2 rebounds 9. Troy Jones (201-F) of Corsarios - 18 points and 10 rebounds 10. Logan Santiago (185-G) of Corsarios - 16 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
