LSBF Round 5: Indeportes beat Medellin in the most crucial game of the week- November 30, 2022

Soacha - Power 46-53 The game in Soacha was also worth to mention about. Second ranked Power (3-2) played at the court of 6th ranked Soacha (1-4). Power managed to secure a 7-point victory 53-46. Power outrebounded Soacha 37-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. The former international power forward Tania Valencia (177-1994) orchestrated the victory by scoring 12 points and 9 rebounds. Carolayn Aguirre (-1999) contributed with 10 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Forward Laura Ayala (173-2001) answered with 15 points and 6 rebounds and Angela Ibanez added 13 points and 4 assists in the effort for Soacha. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power maintains second place with 3-2 record having just two points less than leader Indeportes, which they share with Hormigas ILBS. Soacha at the other side stay at the bottom position with four games lost. They share it with Cundinamarca. Hormigas ILBS forced 20 Cundinamarca turnovers. Strangely Cundinamarca outrebounded Hormigas ILBS 58-34 including a 40-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Michelle Pardo orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Guard Laura Acosta (-1999) contributed with 16 points for the winners. Forward Stephany Mayo (-1993) answered with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 19 rebounds and 4 blocks and forward Givanna Padilla (-1996) added 10 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Cundinamarca. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Defending champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Power. Cundinamarca lost their third game in a row. They keep the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Soacha. Leader Indeportes faced 4th placed Medellin. Host Indeportes (5-0) smashed guests from Medellin (2-3) 93-46. Indeportes dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Medellin's 24. They outrebounded Medellin 48-32 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Nicole Heyn (180-1999, college: Valdosta St.) who scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Gabriela Chivata (165-2002) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Five Indeportes players scored in double figures. Forward Karen Castano (174-2004) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and forward Cindy Arango (-2001) added 8 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Indeportes have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Medellin at the other side keeps the fourth position with three games lost.
